Chad Fellows Tops the Leaderboard in Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre

Chad Fellows from Shifnal, Shropshire triumphed in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre, near Fareham, Hampshire yesterday on board Amanda Bundock’s 6 year-old chestnut stallion Foss.

Fifty-one eager competitors began the battle for one of the two direct qualification spots up for grabs for the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Championship Final at this year’s Horse of the Year Show in October and it was Chad who took the top spot in fine style. Riding Foss, Chad took on the eight strong jump off to produce a lightning fast treble clear in 44.03 seconds.

Second place went to Dan Delsart from Wollaston, Northamptonshire on board Diamants Aurora, a 6 year-old grey mare owned by Ingrid Wood. Drawn early in the jump off, this combination produced the only other treble clear of the competition, crossing the finish line in 49.97 seconds.

With the top two taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, the riders and horses that finished in third to fifth missed out on Championship qualification this time around. They did however take home the chance to compete in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
