British Showjumping’s Team NAF claim equal 4th in Children’s Nations Cup in Wierden

The Children’s team, riding under their title sponsor banner of Team NAF, gave a strong performance this afternoon to take equal 4th place in the Nations Cup at the Dutch Youngster Festival in Wierden, The Netherlands.

Against a field of nine other nations, each of the riders rounds proved to be pivotal over what proved to be a technical course.

First out for Great Britain was Angel Tough, aged 13, from Manchester riding Callumbus, a 10 year-old British bred bay gelding owned by Emerson Tough. This pair delivered a fantastic double clear to get the team off to a flying start.

Jocasta Symons, aged 14, from Marlborough, Wiltshire was next in the arena for the team with the British bred Concordette RR, a 10 year-old bay mare owned by Julie Symons. Their first round saw them return with 10 penalties but they put that behind them by coming out and delivering a foot perfect clear in the second round.

Next to jump for GB was Matilda Lanni, aged 13, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire with Newbridges Master Brown, an 11 year-old bay gelding owned by Stacey Webb. Matilda secured a superb clear in her first round and was unfortunate to pick up 4 penalties in round two.

Jodie Burchmore-Eames, aged 14, from Northchurch, Hertfordshire was last to go with Casti Aneira, a 10 year-old grey mare owned by Abbe Burchmore-Eames. This combination picked up 8 penalties in each round.

The Pony team of Fraser Reed with Quility Maes Z Des Dix Bonnier, Hannah Barker with Ammanvalley Santino, Lily Freeman-Attwood with Valmy De Treille and Allana Clutterbuck with Sultan Du Bary were also in action this morning finishing in 5th place on a total of 23 penalties. This was despite both Fraser and Lily posting a penalty free clear each. It was Ireland who took 1st place with The Netherlands and France taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
