British Showjumping’s Team LeMieux win FEI Pony European Championships Team Silver

The British Pony Team riding under the title sponsor banner of Team LeMieux did Great Britain proud when they won Team Silver earlier this evening at the FEI Pony European Championships in Kaposvar, Hungary.

All British riders had put in a solid performance during the first round yesterday and their performances today further highlighted the depth of talent we have within the Pony environment.

Lily Freeman Attwood aged 15 from Shrewsbury, Shropshire with Valmy De Trielle, an 8 year-old bay mare owned by Emily Freeman Attwood was first to go for the team today. Having jumped a brilliant clear yesterday she was unfortunately unseated in the combination resulting in a No Score in the first round but a solid second round saw them finish on just 4 penalties.

Fifteen year-old Ellie Hall McAteer from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire looked in fine form with the 19 year-old chestnut mare Tixylix owned by Mandy Hall. Having taken the ride over this year from sister Jodie it was good to see them working so well as a combination posting a foot-perfect clear across both rounds today in addition to their initial round yesterday afternoon.

Fraser Reed aged 16 from St. Andrews, Fife with Harry a 14 year-old bay gelding owned by Aileen Reed picked up 4 penalties yesterday. This afternoon they put in a particularly good first round to return home clear with just 4 penalties being accrued in the second.

Allana Clutterbuck aged 16 from Upminster, Essex with Sultan Du Bary an 11 year-old bay gelding owned by Susan Evans came forward to the first round today with a clear penalty score so it was unfortunate to see them pick up 4 penalties mid course in the first round. With all to play for in the second round and knowing that a medal was at stake, Allana absolutely pulled it out the bag when she broke the finish line clear and within the time allowed to secure Great Britain a Silver medal podium position.

Ireland took Gold finishing just one jump ahead of Great Britain with their 4 penalties whilst the Netherlands, who sat two time penalties behind us were relegated into Bronze.

Going forward to Sunday when Individual medals will be decided, Ellie Hall-McAteer currently sits in joint 1st position with her clean score sheet whilst Allana Clutterbuck and Faye Sutton sit in joint 7th.  The Individual medals competition commences at 3pm local time and the team will be competing under the guidance of Clare Whitaker who is accompanying them in the role of Chef d’Equipe.
