Ben Parnaby Wins Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round at Pyecombe Horse Show

Last Saturday, twenty-eight combinations battled it out in the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round held by Pyecombe Horse Show at Brendon Stud in Pyecombe, West Sussex and Ben Parnaby from Haywards Heath, West Sussex emerged victorious.
Each and every starter came forward on Saturday with the hope of claiming one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships. The Championships take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 18th – 22nd November 2015.
Out of all of the starters, eleven produced the first round clear needed for a place in the jump off. With five horses going on to jump a double clear, all eyes were trained on the clock to see who had gained the fastest time and the lion’s share of the prize pot.
Ben set the standard early on in the jump off with a double clear in 39.40 seconds on board his mother Jo’s 11 year-old bay gelding Captain Junior. Their round proved to be good enough for the win and they ended up finishing with a two second advantage.
Southerly Roberts from Hook, Hampshire took second place with her own 10 year old bay mare Tinx after they left all of the poles up in 41.40 seconds.
Leonnie Jones from Haywards Heath, West Sussex secured third with her own 8 year-old black mare Bellatrix III. This combination finished in top three after securing a double clear in 42.19 seconds.
