Arena UK Winter Novice Qualifier

Arena UK in Lincolnshire hosted a Winter Novice Championship qualifier on Saturday which saw 75 starters fight it out for the top 2 qualifying places.

15 combinations jumped round the first round clear to tackle the up to height jump off with 12 of those jumping clear again to try and top the field.

It was Essex based 22 year old Charmaine Hanson who took the top spot partnering Teza Englefield’s 7 year old bay mare Ayonie. Jumping clear in a jump off time of 34.42 seconds gave Charmaine the win and the first qualification ticket. Not far behind, picking up the second qualification ticket was 15 year old Beth Vernon from Nottingham. Riding her mother, Allyson’s 6 year old brown gelding Blitzer Go, Beth came home in a jump off time of 35.72 seconds.

Third place, just outside of qualifying was 18 year old Mark Wildish riding his mother Dawn’s 8 year old chestnut mare Quidams Fee, jumping clear in a time of 36.52 seconds.

The Winter Novice Final will take place at the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead 2012.
