Amelia Cox is Unbeatable in Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre

A clear winner on Sunday emerged in 16 year-old Amelia Cox who made the journey from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire to the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre in Cambridgeshire.

A twenty-three strong field of determined competitors started the class with high hopes of  taking home one of the twelve qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November. Only eight combinations were able to pull off a clear in the first round, so with qualification assured it was left to the all-important jump off to decide the placings.

Riding Jane Cox’s 10 year-old grey mare Diamond Jessica, Amelia remained cool, calm and collected as she waited for all of the other competitors to go before her. Knowing what they had to do, this pair jumped a blistering round to cross the finish line in 35.80 seconds with a double clear for first place.

Corrina Meads from Romford, Essex scooped up second place with her own 16 year-old bay gelding, Tayfun II. From second draw this pair gave a strong performance, posting a double clear in 37.68 seconds.

Third place went to Rosie Collins from Steppingley, Bedfordshire and she rode her own 10 year-old bay mare Sweet Bertha to a double clear in 37.79 seconds.
