Adrian Speight claims top spot in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Port Royal Equestrian Centre

At the penultimate Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round of the season, a determined field of competitors gathered at Port Royal Equestrian Centre in Holme on Spalding Moor, York and it was Adrian Speight who claimed top spot after delivering a quick treble clear.

With the pressure on to secure a place in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships in August, competition was fierce between the twenty-nine starters. After two challenging rounds, ten combinations were left to go head to head against the clock in the final jump off.

Adrian Speight from Grimsby, South Humberside shot straight in to first place after delivering a foot perfect treble clear on board his 11 year-old chestnut gelding, Gorky. This partnership took on the newly shortened course with a turn of speed as they broke through the 40 second barrier to stop the clock in 38.55 seconds.

Guiding her 8 year-old grey gelding, Contaire into second place was Katie Jo Lindley from Chesterfield, Derbyshire. This pair posted a strong round to cross the finish line on a treble clear in 47.84 seconds.

Taking home third place was Lisa Whitaker from Goole, North Humberside riding her own 12 year-old bay mare, Pauldarys Vittoria.  This combination left all the fences standing for a treble clear in a time of 51.26 seconds.

With another three combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of six combinations now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
