 Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Brook Farm Training Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds continued at the venue of Brook Farm Training Centre in Romford, Essex. The venue was the host for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, held at the heights of 1.10m and 1.15m. The Second Rounds were held on Saturday 13th October 2012 and the eligible horse and rider combinations that competed in the classes were all aiming to qualify for the Championships. 
 
Following a number of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer.
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. 
This National Amateur Second Round proved popular and attracted 21 starting combinations, all of the whom had a Championship Final place in mind. From these starting combinations, seven made it through to the jump off and with the places in mind, riders wanted to achieve fast and clear round.
 
The winner’s spot was taken by 21-year-old Kerrie Goodwin from St. Albans, Hertfordshire and Kerrie won the class on board Roscoes Golani, her own 16-year-old chestnut gelding. The combination rode a superb double clear and posted a fast time of 25.69 seconds to secure the win and a Championship Final place.
 
In second place was 19-year-old Alice Ellison from Cambridgeshire. Alice rode Britney IV, a 6-year-old bay mare owned by Jacqueline Stephens. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 26.63 seconds to secure second place by nearly half a second. 
 
Finishing in third place was 18-year-old Ruby Pointer from Norfolk and she was on board Dutsy Van Het Hek, a nine-year old grey mare, owned by Richard Pointer. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 27.06 seconds to ensure that they secured a top three finish. 
 
A further four riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

4th Darcey Rawlinson riding Polar Bear II – 0/0 – 27.36 seconds
5th Olivia Stafford riding Badgers Kingley – 0/0 – 31.11 seconds
6th Terry Mitchell riding Anukarles – 0/4 – 36.46 seconds 
7th Alice Godfrey riding Bugac Donat – 0/4 – 36.46 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round. 
This National Amateur Second Round also attracted 21 starting combinations and again, all of the combinations had a Championship Final place in mind. From the starters, six combinations made it through to the jump off.
 
The winner of this second round went two places better than her performance in the 1.10m National Amateur Second Round and this time, 18-year-old Ruby Pointer from Norfolk secured the win. Ruby again rode Dutsy Van Het Hek, a nine-year old grey mare, owned by Richard Pointer. The pair achieved the fastest jump off, clearing the seven fence course in 32.24 seconds.
 
Second place was secured by 17-year-old Lorraine Lock from Essex. Lorraine rode an accurate jump off round on board Uvistar, an 11-year-old bay gelding owned by Joanne Lock. This combination produced their second clear in 34.07 seconds.
 
Third place was filled by 38-year-old Emma Veal from Ware, Hertfordshire and she achieved her own nine-year-old chestnut gelding, Parc and Ride. The pair secured their double clear in a time of 38.61 seconds.
 
A further three riders also achieved their 1.15m Championship Final qualification.

6th Nicola Waring riding Bonnie III – 0/8 – 36.62 seconds
 
The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
