Team GBR Squad for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final Announced

Di Lampard, the World Class Showjumping Performance Manager has announced her squad of five for this year’s Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona which takes place between 24th – 27th September 2015.

The squad selected is as follows:

Joe Clee who is based in Belgium, with the 11 year-old bay stallion Utamaro d’Ecaussines owned by Ludwig Criel

Ben Maher MBE from Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire with the 10 year-old British Bred chestnut mare Diva II owned by Tatiana Korsakova

Jessica Mendoza a World Class Development Programme rider from Chippenham, Wiltshire with the 14 year-old British bred brown mare Spirit T owned by Sarah Mendoza

Laura Renwick from Maldon, Essex with her own and John Renwick’s 9 year-old bay gelding Bintang II

Michael Whitaker from Nottinghamshire and the 10 year-old grey stallion Cassionato owned by Beverley Widdowson

Taking place at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, a total of eighteen teams plus the home team if not already qualified will all be eligible to compete in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final. Teams from within Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Asia/Australasia and Africa will all be competing.

The Final consists of three competitions. The top eight teams from Thursday’s opening class will go forward to the third and final competition on Saturday whilst the remainder will compete in the Challenge Cup which will be held on the Friday.

The World Class Development Programme underpins World Class Performance and, together with the Equine Pathway, they comprise the Equestrian World Class Programme, incorporating the three Olympic sports of dressage, eventing, showjumping and the Paralympic sport of para-equestrian dressage.  The Programme has been funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, through Exchequer and National Lottery funds, via UK Sport since 1998.
